SOLAR POWER - SEE THE LIGHT! THE WAY FORWARD
The sun’s energy is the cleanestand most abundant source of energy known to man. And currently we barely use a tiny fraction of it’s potential.
In today’s environmentally-aware world, solar thermal systems are the
most effective way to reduce your household carbon emissions and as well as contributing to a cleaner environment in the future, this will reduce your personal ‘carbon footprint’.
Using solar water heating for example can reduce your carbon emissions by up to 20%, more if you consider other applications as well.
To this end, harnessing solar energy is becoming an essential addition to providing energy to homes, with a huge shortfall in energy supply to demand predicted by 2015. With new efficient solar tube technology, solar power is not only valuable in saving you money, and saving the environment, but will soon become a standard method of providing energy to Spanish homes.
Solar energy in Spain is far more effective than most other countries in Europe. Even with the UK's poor climate it can still provide excellent heating (about 70%) because of the quality and performance of our collector tubes.
Below you can see, a comparison between Madrid and London.
With the Spanish climate you can expect at least 90% of your hot water needs to be met.

This graph shows the power output of solar panels per metre squared in kWh. The red line represents power output in Spain and the yellow line in the UK. As you can see the power that can be produced in the UK is very efficient. However it is exceptional here in Spain.
Equally as important as its benefit to the environmental, is the consideration of ongoing monetary benefits of installing a solar thermal system. A solar powered water heating system, when installed in your home, will save you on average 45% of your electricity bill in our region in Spain (Costa Blanca / Calida). You could see a higher saving with more solar powered applications (such as pool heating, under-floor heating etc).
Grants are available, but not in all cases – dependant on area and manufacturer. It is best to see the potential receipt of a grant as a bonus, rather than hoping it will fund your investment.
